Description

-- For Tembusu Students only --

Kellynn Wee is a Research Associate at the Asia Research Institute. Previous major research projects she has worked on include a process tracing of the "day off" policy for domestic workers in Singapore as well as the practices and symbolic universes of brokerage in the migration industry for Indonesian domestic workers. Her current research focuses on a comparative analysis of skilled diasporas from Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, and China. She was a member of Tembusu College from 2011-2014.

Suraendher Kumarr is an alumnus of Tembusu College and currently a research analyst at a private corporate investigations firm. He has written about labour politics and student activism in publications such as New Naratif, the Journal of International and Public Affairs, and Vox Leiden. He will be presenting findings from his BA thesis which are informed by in-depth interviews with 20 Indian and Bangladeshi migrant workers and a handful of employers where he asks "why are there far fewer low-wage Indian than Bangladeshi migrant workers seeking state help for their exploitation in Singapore?"
